Services of a Professional Move Manager
By Mary Holmes
Integrated Move Management would like to wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2018! As we start a new year, we thought it was a good idea to summarize the services offered by us and the Professional Move Manager industry generally. As it is a newer industry (coming into existence in the early 2000’s), we understand that not everyone is familiar with the broad range of ways we can help you and your family.
The Professional Move Management industry originated from adult children who were helping their aging parents transition from their long time homes into a smaller living situation, e.g. a retirement community. They realized both the emotional and physical stressors involved in this process for their parents and how much help they actually needed. Although these adult children were located in different states around the country and didn’t know each other, the internet helped bring them together. In 2002, the National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM) was founded as an industry organization. NASMM ensures that its members carry insurance and are bonded, understand safety issues, are trained appropriately to do the job, and understand and abide by the ethical behavior necessary to work with seniors. There are now over 900 members of NASMM. Today, most members of NASMM not only help seniors, but also assist anyone who needs help with downsizing, moving or home clean out.
